This week’s featured pet is Jerry, a four-year-old, male black and white cat. Jerry came here with three housemates: Baby Cakes, a two-year-old female tabby; Cabot, a long-haired orange and white boy; and Benny, an eight-year-old rag doll mix.

At this point in time Jerry is the only one ready for adoption; the others still need to brought up to date on their vaccinations. Jerry is a sweet boy with fascinating markings; his legs seem to have a harlequin pattern. He is confused about his surroundings and is acting shy so his new family will need to be patient with him. Jerry and his housemates are in need of socialization so we encourage folks to come in and spend some time with them.

Please remember that the next nail clinic will take place on Feb. 3 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. Walks-ins only, $20 cash or check.

Saturday, Feb. 17 is the date of the next visit by All Pets Medical Center. If you would like to schedule an appointment for your pet, please contact them at 508-743-8338.

If anyone is in need, we have a handful of dog products available. There are some harnesses, sweaters in all sizes and a few life jackets. Please stop by the shelter Tuesday through Saturday between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Did you know that while dogs are at the shelter, training is implemented whenever necessary? When a dog is adopted, the new owner receives one free training session courtesy of Jeremy Jones. We also provide puppy kindergarten classes and AKC Good Citizen training.

The Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard is here for our community. We’re always available and our door is always open should your adoption not be a perfect fit. Also, if anyone is in need of cat food, dog food, or a crate, we have plenty and are happy to share. The Island Food Pantry also has pet food for those in need. Just give us a call during regular shelter hours.

The shelter phone number is 508-627-8662. Hours are: Tuesday, 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Wednesday, 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Thursday, 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
