The Island’s EMS services are holding an open house next week for an upcoming EMT class.

The emergency medical service providers will host the emergency medical technician open house on Tuesday, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the regional high school culinary arts dining room.

Instructors from Cape Cod Community College will be in attendance, as will representatives from Edgartown, Oak Bluffs, Tisbury and Tri-Town to answer questions and discuss job opportunities.

The EMT class will be held Tuesday and Thursday nights from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m., and on most Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The course begins Jan. 23 and ends in May. Classes will be held at the Oak Bluffs Fire Department.

Anyone can enroll in the course, which costs about $1,500. Aid is available and most fire departments have reimbursement programs for students.

The class has been going on for the past four years.

“As long as there are enough students to hold a class, the college has expressed its support in maintaining their support,” said Tom Ignacio, a lieutenant with the Edgartown department.
