The third annual Indigenous Peoples Day celebration takes place at Felix Neck Wildlife Sanctuary on Monday, Oct. 9.

The event is organized by Sassafras Earth Education in collaboration with Felix Neck, and features Aquinnah Wopanaak elder David Two Arrows Vanderhoop as host.

Traditional music by the Black Brook Singers begins the ceremony at 2 p.m.

After an opening prayer and a land acknowledgment, various Wôpanâak speakers will then share their perspectives on the importance of celebrating and commemorating Indigenous People’s Day.

The event is open to all, in support for the first peoples of Nôepe on this day. There will be some seating available, and attendees are encouraged to bring chairs.

The ceremony is free of charge but donations are appreciated.

Felix Neck Wildlife Sanctuary is located at 100 Felix Neck Drive in Edgartown.
