We are delighted to report that adoptions have been finalized for the tabby cats Timmy and Marbles. Congratulations to both on their new homes.

Our featured pets this week are Peter and Teddy, one-year-old, black male rabbits who are brothers but do not need to be adopted together.

These two have been hand raised and are litter box-trained. Both are very friendly and love to be held and cuddled. And they’re happy living indoors or out.

We also have the stunning Jasmine, who may be part Maine coon. She is a long-haired, gray/dilute calico cat with green eyes. Her age is 13 and she is looking for someone to adore her. Since she considers herself to be the one in charge, we feel she would be happiest as an only cat.

All Pets Medical Center will be seeing patients at the shelter on Saturday, Oct. 14 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Please contact them at 508-743-8338 for an appointment.

Did you know that we partner with the Voyager program, which is a transitional program at the Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School for students between the ages of 18 and 21 with disabilities? Student volunteers participate in shelter activities such as socializing the animals. All the Island schools, Community Services and Elder Services may bring groups to the shelter. Socializing animals is beneficial for both the pets and the people.

The Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard is here for our community. We’re always available and our door is always open should your adoption not be a perfect fit. Also, if anyone is in need of cat food, dog food or a crate, we have plenty and are happy to share. Island Food Pantry also has pet food for those in need. Just give us a call during regular shelter hours.

Hours are: Tuesday, 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Wednesday, 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Thursday, 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The shelter phone number is 508-627-8662.
