The Martha’s Vineyard Agricultural Society has announced the 2023 winner of its annual fair poster contest.

This year’s poster is designed by Nancy Mulcahy, an Edgartown seasonal resident.

Lauren Lynch, the Agricultural Society's executive director, said that out of 32 submissions, Ms. Mulcahy’s painting best captured this year’s theme of “the heart of the 161st Martha’s Vineyard Agricultural Fair.”

"Her painting has a throwback quality to it—a vintage quality," Ms. Lynch said. "It could have been done 20 years ago or 20 years from now. It's timeless."

The fair takes place this summer from August 17 to 20.

When not on the Island, Ms. Mulcahy lives in Loudenville, N.Y. She holds a master’s degree in education from SUNY Albany, and worked at the Diamond Art Studio in New York City before becoming an elementary school teacher in the Albany area.

She is also a student at the Troy Art Center and her oil paintings are inspired by Island life.
