On Friday, September 17 at 3:30 p.m., the West Tisbury Library hosts a free outdoor event that's all about growing, restoring, marketing, shucking, and eating oysters.

Alex Friedman of Snows Point Oysters in Katama Bay will explain how oysters are grown on Martha's Vineyard.

MV Shellfish Group executive director Emma Green-Beach will talk about restoring sustainable oyster fisheries and ecological balance in the great ponds.

MV Fishermen’s Preservation Trust executive director Shelley Edmundson will share news about their new wholesale seafood market, the MV Seafood Collaborative, and their plan to increase the market for Island oysters.

The team will demonstrate the best method to shuck an oyster and all attendees will get to sample fresh Snows Point oysters.

Attendance will be limited to allow for social distancing. Please sign up in advance to reserve your space by emailing wt_mail@clamsnet.org. Masks are mandatory inside the library building.
