At this time, our Island animal shelter remains open for official business and by appointment only.

This week’s adoption news is that Jeff, the stray tabby cat, has found his new forever home. It takes a village for this animal shelter to serve our community. A big thank you to Dr. Sauter and Darci at My Pet’s Vet for all of their help in getting Jeff ready for his adoption.

Who wants a baby bunny? Peeps is a three-month old, black female. She’s been hand-raised and couldn’t be sweeter or more affectionate. This is a hearty rabbit who is able to live outdoors or indoors. And if a hutch is your concern, we can help you out with that. Come meet this little doll and fall in love.

Also available for adoption are Summer, the lovely Torti-Ragdoll/bobtail mix cat, and two female, baby Guinea Pigs that would look adorable dressed as bunnies for Easter. Both of these babies are hand-raised.

The Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard is here for our community. We’re always available and our door is always open should your adoption not be a perfect fit. If anyone is in need of cat food, dog food or a crate, we have plenty and are happy to share. The Island Food Pantry also has pet food for those in need. Just give us a call during regular shelter hours.

The shelter phone number is 508-627-8662. Hours are: Tuesday, 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.; Wednesday, 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.; Thursday and Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Saturday, 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Closed Sunday and Monday.
