The Bluewater Classic fishing tournament is set to return to the Oak Bluffs harbor this summer after Oak Bluffs selectmen gave approval to tournament organizer Damon Sacco Tuesday.

This summer will mark the seventh year the town has hosted the tournament, which took over for the Monster Shark Tournament in 2014.

Oak Bluffs harbor master Todd Alexander told selectmen he had no serious issues with the tournament.

“We welcome them back and look forward to it, it’s a good event,” Mr. Alexander said.

Tournament dates are July 13 to 18.

Also Tuesday, the selectmen agreed to create a swim zone at Doug’s Cove Preserve, owned by the land bank, on Lagoon Pond. Mr. Alexander said the area has become increasingly popular for kiteboarding, and the swim zone will help separate swimmers from kiteboarders.

“I think we do need to do something before we have an accident,” Mr. Alexander said.
