The West Tisbury Library hosts a seed collection Oct. 24 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. to restock the emptied Martha's Vineyard Community Seed Library.

"Our seed giveaway last spring was so successful that the seed cabinet is now empty!" reads a library announcement. "Please visit us to 'return' the seeds you borrowed and/or add your own local saved vegetable, flower, and fruit seeds to this special collection."

The seed collection will take place on the porch side of the library, where seed saving experts will be available to help label seeds, enter them in the cabinet and answer any seed questions. Questions about seed saving may also be emailed to katie@igimv.org, according to the announcement, while queries about Saturday's collection should be directed to the library at wt_mail@clamsnet.org or 508-693-3366.

No sign up is required, but masks and social distancing are mandatory. Participants are encouraged, but not required, to fill out seed labels in advance. Printable seed labels are online at westtisburylibrary.org/seed-library, and pre-printed seed labels can be picked up anytime during curbside hours on the West Tisbury Library front porch.

The MV Community Seed Library is a collaboration with Island Grown Initiative, Polly Hill Arboretum, West Tisbury Library, Island farmers and home gardeners.
