On Sunday, July 19, Rev. Susan Sparks leads the service at Union Chapel. Reverend Sparks is senior pastor at New York city’s Madison Avenue Baptist Church. She returns to the (virtual) Union Chapel for the eighth time.

With the temporary closing of the chapel, all preachers and speakers have been delivering taped sermons from home or their respective pulpits. The chapel quartet has recorded their hymns from within the Union Chapel.

In the following weeks, other returning preachers include: Rev. Kenneth J. Kieffer from Cheshire United Methodist Church in Connecticut; Rev. Otis Moss, III, from Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago; Rev. Howard John Wesley from Alfred Street Baptist Church in Alexandria, Va; and Rev. Calvin Butts from Abyssinian Baptist Church in New York city.

First time preachers include Rev. Deforest Soaries from First Baptist Church of Lincoln Gardens in Somerset, N.J. and Rev. Denise Smartt Sears, district superintendent of the Metropolitan District of the New York Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church.
Union Chapel’s Rev. Aliye Browne will deliver the season’s final message on Sept. 6, 2020.

All virtual sermons start at 10 a.m. on Sunday mornings but can be viewed at any time after each preacher’s scheduled Sunday. Visit unionchapelmv.org.
