After seeing groups of athletes practicing together, Island athletic coaches have sent out emails urging their players to practice social isolation and not get together for informal training sessions.

The emails included some tips to keep fit during this time, including training individually, watching instructional videos online, and playing catch with parents or siblings.

“We understand this is going to be difficult for many kids and families to isolate themselves — like nothing we have ever seen before,” wrote Matt Malowski, president and director of soccer development for MV United. “But if we do not take these recommendations seriously, three weeks will turn into six weeks, and so on. Martha’s Vineyard is not immune from this pandemic.”
