An Oak Bluffs man was arrested Thursday on child pornography charges after state police found a cache of pornographic materials in his home.

Stephen L. Jenkinson, 52, was arraigned Friday in Edgartown district court on charges of possessing child pornography and two counts of distributing material of a child in a sexual act. Bail was set at $1,500, with a further condition of release to remain away from anyone under the age of 17 and all public libraries. He was also ordered to have a GPS device attached.

According to a recording of court proceedings, the state police cyber crimes unit was informed of the dissemination of child sexual abuse imagery over the internet associated with a particular IP address. A subpoena to Comcast found the subscriber’s name, and state police executed a search warrant at Mr. Jenkinson’s residence in Oak Bluffs.

Police found objects in the home associated with child pornography, as well as more than 4,000 images of child sexual abuse material.

A probable cause hearing was scheduled for March 23.
