Carlos Teles of Edgartown has won the right to claim Massachusetts vehicle license plate MV 100, after a six-week raffle campaign that raised close to $9,000 for Martha’s Vineyard Community Services.

Mr. Teles’s raffle ticket was pulled from a hat Monday afternoon by MVCS director Julie Fay. It was one of more than 400 tickets sold in November and December at $25 apiece, or $100 for five.

The social service agency has been raising funds with low-number license plates, but this marked the first time that one of the sought-after plates was made available at a low cost.

There are about 30 of the plates remaining, which will be sold at online auction, communications manager Mary Korba said. Proceeds go toward supporting operations and programming at MVCS.

Monday’s drawing was live-streamed on Facebook.
