Phil Lesh and Friends to Close Out Beach Road Music Festival

Phil Lesh and Friends will close out Beach Road Weekend, the three-day music festival planned for August 9 to 11 in Vineyard Haven, the Martha’s Vineyard Concert Series announced.

Mr. Lesh and friends will headline the Sunday lineup which also includes Grace Potter, funk and jazz band Galactic and reggae singer Matisyahu.

The longtime bassist for the Grateful Dead, Mr. Lesh has been performing for decades with both a core and rotating group of musicians, including over the years Carlos Santana, Trey Anastasio, Chris Robinson and Warren Haynes. The group performs a mix of Grateful Dead songs and original numbers.

Festival plans include an opening August 9 with a screening of Jaws accompanied by a live score conducted by the Cape Symphony.

John Fogerty headlines the Saturday lineup, which also includes Alejandro Escovedo, North Mississippi All Stars and Mason Jennings.

Tickets to the festival will be available online beginning Friday, May 31 at 10 a.m. Presale access will be offered to concert series members between May 13 to 17.

Is this concert taking place or not? " planned for ", no one knows. Who will be removing all the trash that will overflow onto the streets and roads of Tisbury? Where will people park a car, truck, motorcycle, handicap ride? How many "Deadheads" are coming and what type of LSD will be coming with them? Yuk, Please mend thy ways,in the words of The Grateful Dead, "don't you let that deal go down"...

Have you ever been to a Phil and Friends show? There's probably more acid at a Tony Bennett show.

I can't wait for the Sunday lineup. As for the crowds I doubt that will be an issue. What I am curious about is how much of an effort the organizers will make to let people know that the last ferry leaves at 9:30 and there will not be a room available on the island as it is the busiest week of the year. It will be a disaster if people simply wonder around Vineyard Haven all night, or try to sleep in the park, waiting for the 5:30 am ferry. It could be a few thousand people day tripping over for the day. Or so they think.

Would love to vend this with a mobile coffee truck . If anyone knows anything please let me know

Does anyone really know what time it is? Do you think the band CHICGAO might have been a better choice than the 2 really old geezers? Can anyone state for sure that this event is really taking place? I'd like to book my reservations to get off the island if it is.
