Islanders who want to safely dispose of unwanted prescription medications can take them to the West Tisbury police department on Saturday, April 27, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The drug take-back program is done in conjunction with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and aims to prevent pill abuse and theft by helping people rid their homes of unwanted or expired medications.

Only pills or patches can be accepted — no liquids, needles or sharps, please.

The police department is located in the town public safety building at 454 State Road in North Tisbury.

The takeback service is free and anonymous; no questions will be asked.
