Almost immediately after the fire on March 19 that consumed the barn and killed numerous animals at Flat Point Farm, the Island community rose up to help. Hay was delivered for the remaining animals before the fire was even extinguished. Food was dropped off for the family. Then an online fundraiser topped $70,000 in just three days. At present it stands over $100,000.

And now it is time for a Haybarn Hoedown.

On Saturday, April 6 the community gets to give back and kick back at a potluck hoedown to raise funds for the farm and to celebrate the Island community. The party takes place at the Agricultural Hall in West Tisbury, from 5:30 to 10 p.m. The suggested price is $25; kids are free.

Everyone is asked to bring a potluck dish and their own place settings. There will be an art sale with works from numerous Island artists and entertainment by a who’s who of Island musicians, including Johnny Hoy and the Bluefish, Phil DaRosa, Mike Benjamin and the Pickpocket Blues Band.

For those who want to help but can’t make it to the Ag Hall on Saturday, checks can mailed to Priscilla Fischer Trust, c/o MVSB, P.O. Box 602, West Tisbury, MA 02575, or donations can be made online at gofundme.com/rebuild-flat-point-farm.
