Crescent Moon and Mars

On Sunday night the waxing crescent moon appears near the bright ruby red planet Mars in the zodiacal constellation Pisces. The moon is two days from first quarter phase and it appears underneath the Valentine-red colored planet.

On Tuesday night, the first quarter moon is in the zodiacal constellation Taurus and just underneath the familiar star cluster Pleiades, also called Seven Sisters.

If you are looking for a sign of spring, stay up late and look to the stars later in the evening. Even the constellation Orion, the hunter, is appearing more westerly.

And Bootes, a spring and summer constellation depicting a shepherd, appears in the eastern sky before midnight.
