Phil Weinstein begins his popular fall literature seminars on Wednesday, Oct. 4 at the Katharine Cornell Theatre with a discussion on Melville’s short stories: Benito Cereno and Bartleby the Scrivener. No excuses this year about having to read too much. In recent years, Mr. Weinstein discussed War and Peace and Moby Dick.

This fall season it is all about the short story for the retired Swarthmore professor. Subsequent Wednesdays will focus on Tolstoy’s short works, Chekhov, Henry James, Kafka and James Joyce’s Dubliners.

The talk on Oct. 4 begins at 7 p.m. For more information and to sign up, contact Betty Burton at the Vineyard Haven Library, 508-696-4210.
