Wednesday is for weeping. At the end of the day on Dec. 14, Pie in the Sky Bakery will close its doors for construction.

The popular spot that makes waiting for the ferry more palatable will be undergoing a full renovation with an entirely new structure replacing the old one. Owner Erik Gura assures that the space will look mostly the same, with just a “mid-life re-fit.”

The project should be completed by mid-March, and the bakery plans to re-open before the summer season begins. Customers do not have to go cold turkey, however, on Pie in the Sky popovers. Mr. Gura has posted the recipe at pieintheskywoodshole.com.
