A Vineyard Haven man recently indicted on drug charges here on Martha’s Vineyard was arrested in Boston earlier this month on a charge of trafficking heroin in a school zone.

Jeffrey Sylvia, 27, was arrested March 18 in Dorchester, according to Boston police. Mr. Sylvia was arraigned in Boston Municipal Court on March 21, and ordered held on $10,000 bail, according to a court clerk.

On March 3, Mr. Syliva was indicted by a Dukes County grand jury on charges of heroin trafficking, heroin distribution, possession of prescription narcotics, marijuana distribution, and drug violation near a school/park.

He was arrested in July 2015 by members of the Martha’s Vineyard Drug Task Force after police executed a search warrant at a home on Arrowhead Lane in Oak Bluffs. Police said they seized 46 grams of heroin, prescription narcotics, marijuana, and nearly $9,000 in cash from the home.

Mr. Sylvia has a prior conviction in Dukes County on a charge of heroin distribution.
