I was reading this week’s Gazette this morning and was quite surprised to read a letter to the editor criticizing Lynne Irons and her column. Lynne’s Vineyard Gardner writing is my favorite part of the Gazette and I look forward to her column on the last page of the paper every week. I enjoy reading her flower and vegetable gardening advice and am always amazed how she turns just about everything she grows into food and often offers recipe ideas. She adds funny anecdotes about her chickens, birds and animals around the farm. She has a self deprecating way of commenting about her life on the Island, and makes amusing observations about Island life in general with her dry sense of humor. I have often thought how much I would like to meet her. So what if she at times makes some political viewpoints! This adds interest to the column and she is never mean or vicious, unlike the statements made by the person who wrote the letter. The writer even admits he has only read the column a couple of times yet feels in a position to write such criticism.

Please ask Lynne to keep on writing. I am sure she has many fans like me.
