Island Alpaca had a strong showing last week at the 99th annual Eastern States Exposition held in West Springfield.

Humans and alpacas alike from the Oak Bluffs farm celebrated winning the coveted Eastern States Exhibition Sweepstakes banner at the alpaca show, as well as a reserve championship. The award goes to the exhibitor that earns the most total points in the alpaca show.

More than 200 alpaca usually compete in the show.

Ashleigh Plante and Andrea Figaratto traveled with three alpaca for the event. It was a big weekend for Estrada’s Hot Shot, who won a blue ribbon and a reserve championship. Alpacas Silver Angel, Estrada’s Atticus Rex, Nina, and Estrada’s Blaze also won blue ribbons, as did Estrada’s Atticus Rex, Estrada’s Holmes, and Estrada’s Blaze for breeder’s best group of three.
