Caitlin Eileen Lopata and Nicholas Stephen Laga, both of Chicago, Ill., will marry on Saturday, October 3, at two o’clock in the afternoon at Saint Elizabeth Catholic Church in Edgartown. Rev. Michael Nagle will officiate.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stefan Lopata of Inverness, Ill. The groom is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Stephen Laga of Hinsdale, Ill.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride will be attended by her sister, Colleen Lopata, as maid of honor. Her friend Erin Aquino and the groom’s sisters, Jennifer Laga and Christina Kurdilla, are bridesmaids.

The best men will be Brad Zarling and Andy Blomquist, friends of the groom. Alex Sharp, cousin of the groom, and Jamie Kurdilla, brother-in-law of the groom, will be groomsmen. Friends of the bride and groom, Jake Braumer and Andy Bowman, will serve as ushers.

Music will be performed by Julie Williamson, Peter Boak and Rebecca and Michael Tinus.

The bride is the great-great-granddaughter of summer residents Phillip and Wilhelminia Markley of East Chop. The bride’s great-grandmother, Eileen Markley Znaniecki, and grandmother, Helena Z. Lopata retained the “Markley House” (1898-1951) until its sale. The Lopata family returned to the Island in 2003 with a vacation residence in Edgartown.
