The Beach Plum and Island Grown Schools will continue their partnership by hosting a wood oven pizza night on Wednesday, Sept. 24, from 5 to 9 p.m.

This summer the organizations collaborated on multiple fundraising dinners at the Beach Plum. For a 250-person IGS event in June, the students experienced a behind-the-scenes look at the restaurant world by helping with hosting, waiting tables and even managing the restaurant.

Now, students will venture outside the schools and harvest with Beach Plum staff at a different farm each week. First up, the crew will head over to Beetlebung Farm with the Chilmark Garden Club on Tuesday and the vegetables will be served on top of pizzas on Wednesday night.

Construction on the Beach Plum’s new wood oven began at the beginning of the summer, and was a collaborative effort between craftspeople in the community. Chris Fischer and Beach Plum intern Miles Cornwall poured the foundation; Alan Klein and Andy Magdanz sourced, assembled and set the oven; and mason John Maloney laid the brick and built the facade.

There will be additional food items offered at the restaurant on Wednesday, plus a pizza to-go option. Place orders by calling 508-645-9454.
