You know you’ve always wanted to carve and forge. We all have. Featherstone Center for the Arts gives us the option. Its first-ever Iron on the Island event is on Saturday, Sept. 20, pretty much all day.

From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., carve a scratch block or bowl and then from 5 p.m., the fire is lit and the iron flows from 7 to 9 p.m. These times are not cast in stone however, due to the whole creative process. There will be a team of artists on hand to guide you as you make your very own piece of iron art, and all the tools you need are provided. Cost is $30 for a scratch block or $50 for a scratch bowl, but it’s free to watch.
