The Gay Head Gallery will present a reception and benefit for Defenders of Wildlife on Sunday, August 10, from 5 to 7 p.m. The show is entitled The Abstract Wild: Wilderness Lost?

Featured artists include John Nickerson Athearn, Jennifer Christy, Barbara Norfleet, Enos Ray and Matthew Smith. Works by other gallery artists will also be shown, including Joel Sartore, a National Geographic award-winning photographer, Cameron Alexander and Elizabeth Lockhart Taft, among others.

Michael Senatore, vice president of Conservation Law at Defenders of Wildlife, will also give a talk on current threats to the Endangered Species Act.

The show runs from August 10 through Sept. 2. The Gay Head Gallery is open daily in the summer from noon to 5 p.m., and always by appointment. Call 508-645-2776.
