The Union Chapel in Oak Bluffs will host Dr. John Silvanus Wilson Jr., president of Morehouse College in Atlanta, Ga., as its visiting speaker this Sunday, August 3.

Dr. Wilson spent many summers as a youth in Oak Bluffs with his grandmother and many Sunday mornings attending Union Chapel.

Prior to his current position, Dr. Wilson was appointed by President Barack Obama to serve as the executive director of the White House Initiative on Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). Before his presidential appointment, Dr. Wilson served in numerous roles at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), ultimately as the director of Foundation Relations, where he helped to manage two record-breaking capital campaigns.

Dr. Wilson’s sermon is entitled Do You Truly Believe?

The service begins at 10 a.m. The chapel is located at the end of Circuit avenue, at the intersection of Kennebec and Narragansett avenues.
