The Martha’s Vineyard Film Center and the West Tisbury Library Foundation present the movie One Fast Move or I’m Gone: Kerouac’s Big Sur on Tuesday, July 29.

The film examines Jack Kerouac’s escape from fame after On The Road, to a cabin on the California coast, where his existential struggles became the basis of another novel, Big Sur.

There will also be live readings from the novel by Arnie Reisman and Paula Lyons.

A reception at the film center in Vineyard Haven begins at 6:30 p.m. The readings begin at 7 p.m., and the film screens at 7:45 p.m.

Ticket are $15, or $12 for film society members. Proceeds benefit the film center and landscaping projects at the new West Tisbury library.
