It’s summer. It’s hot. The ocean is here. So, too, the grill, the farms, art galleries, restaurants, plus feats of athletic prowess to work it all off. So many open roads, so little time, as the bicyclists say. But there is something missing.

What is it, pray tell, kind soul? Could it be the tangling of tongues on a soft moonlit night?

Yes, that’s it, but not the backseat of a car or beach time shenanigans. Rather it is the muscular makeouts with iambic pentameter that we speak of. Oh, Shakespeare, wherefore art thou this summer, the 450th anniversary of your birth, no less?

Thankfully, we few, we happy few, we band of brothers will soon be appeased. Shakespeare for the Masses rides again to the rescue with Troilus and Cressida on Tuesday, July 29, and King John on Tuesday, August 19.

For those not in the know, this troupe holds their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks. In other words, the shows are free and run just under an hour, following some judicious slicing and dicing of the great bards words to make it move fast and furious for an audience with a full summer agenda.

Showtime on both Tuesdays begins at 5 p.m. at the outdoor amphitheater by the Tashmoo Overlook.

Lead on, MacDuff.
