The PigPen Theatre Company is coming back. For those out of the loop, this company spent many summers on the Vineyard, perfecting its musical play The Old Man and The Old Moon. The work was incubated at the Vineyard Arts Project, showcased at the Yard, Featherstone, Cinema Circus, and loved by all. The story told was epic and poetic, the music a blend of folk and ballad, and the puppetry homespun and handmade. The troupe, all friends from college at Carnegie Mellon University, then headed to New York city and earned rave reviews off-Broadway at Judson Church’s Greenwich Village Theatre.

And what happened next? Did the PigPen boys get big heads and forget their Island roots? No way. After a winter spent touring, not with the Old Man show, but now as a band (did they grow too old for puppetry?) they realized they missed the Vineyard vibe. They are in town now for a one-night show at Flatbread Company, Friday, July 11, performing with the band Peg House. It will be beautiful, rest assured.

The 21 and older show begins at 9:30 p.m. Tickets are $18 at the door.
