Gabriela Herman and Tyson Evans were married on June 21 at a private residence overlooking Stonewall Beach in Chilmark. Rachel Been, a friend of the couple who also introduced them, received permission to officiate from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

The bride, 33, will continue to use her name professionally. She is a freelance photographer whose clients include Condé Nast Traveler, Martha Stewart Living and Cosmopolitan. Her photography has been exhibited internationally. She graduated from Wesleyan University in Connecticut and received a bachelor’s degree in psychology.

The bride’s mother is Dr. Talia Nunes Herman of Brookline, a senior primary care internist at Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates. Her father, Jeffrey Herman, of Chilmark, is the executive vice president of DecisionQuest, the national trial consulting firm, and president of the Chilmark town affairs council.

The groom, 31, is deputy editor of interactive news at the New York Times and an adjunct professor at the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. He graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles and received a bachelor’s degree in design media arts.

He is the son of Frank Evans of St. Joseph, Mo., and Carmen Evans of Climax Springs, Mo. His father was the president of UPCO, a national retailer of pet supplies.
