Warren Spector of Chilmark and New York city and Ronald H. Rappaport of Chilmark were both elected as trustees of the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital at a meeting May 24.

Mr. Rappaport grew up in Oak Bluffs where his father, Dr. David Rappaport, practiced medicine from 1946 until 1982. He is an attorney and the well-known town counsel to five of the six Vineyard towns, as well as the Martha’s Vineyard Land Bank. Mr. Rappaport was a partner at Friedman & Atherton in Boston before returning to the Vineyard in 1985 to start his own firm. He was the Vineyard Steamship Authority governor from 1993 to 2000, serves on the board for Vineyard Youth Tennis and is a trustee for the Martha’s Vineyard Savings Bank.

Mr. Spector is co-chairman of Balbec Capital, a private equity firm, and is chairman and co-founder of Tashtego Films, a New York-based independent film and television production company. Previously, he enjoyed a long and distinguished career with the Bear Stearns Companies, which he joined in 1983, retiring as president and co-chief operating officer after 24 years. From 2005 to 2013, Mr. Spector served as chairman of the board of trustees of The Public Theater in New York city. From 2005 to 2008, he served as co-chairman of Martha’s Vineyard Hospital’s capital campaign and was instrumental in raising over $50 million to build the new hospital which was completed in 2010.
