The following cases were heard in Edgartown district court.

April 11

Brandon M. Francis, 22, of Edgartown, arraigned on an April 8 charge in Edgartown of assault and battery on a police officer. According to a police report filed in court, Mr. Francis allegedly struck a police officer with a closed fist while receiving medical care. Pretrial hearing scheduled for May 16.

April 18

Robert L. Bernard, 53, of Vineyard Haven, arraigned on an April 14 charge in Vineyard Haven of domestic assault and battery. Pretrial hearing scheduled for June 20.

Mark E. Lirosi Jr., 22, of Duxbury, arraigned on April 13 charges in Oak Bluffs of assault and battery and disorderly conduct. Pretrial hearing was scheduled for May 9.

Kaitlin M. Kram, 23, of West Tisbury, arraigned on an April 14 charge in Vineyard Haven of drunken driving. Pretrial hearing was scheduled for May 23.

Kayla R. Mastromonaco, 26, of West Tisbury, arraigned on April 13 charges in Vineyard Haven of drunken driving, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, marked lanes violation, speeding in violation of special regulation and possessing an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle. Pretrial hearing scheduled for May 9.

Sarah Mclane, 49, of Edgartown, arraigned on April 12 charges in Edgartown of assault and battery and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (water). According to a police report filed in court, a man reported that he had an argument with Ms. Mclane while he was quahogging, and she allegedly grabbed him and held his head underwater. Pretrial hearing scheduled for May 19.

Daniel B. Nelson, 44, of Edgartown, arraigned on an April 14 charge in Edgartown of violating an abuse prevention order. Pretrial hearing was scheduled for May 9.

April 25

Joseph Amaral, 36, of West Tisbury, pleaded guilty to a July 2012 charge in West Tisbury of assault and battery, sentenced to 18 months in a house of correction, deemed served and balance suspended for two years. Placed on two years of probation and ordered to pay a $50 victim/witness assessment fee, a $65 monthly probation services fee and to complete eight hours of community service and remain drug and alcohol free with screens. A separate charge of assault and battery, amended from indecent assault and battery on a person 14 or over, sentenced to 18 months in the house of correction, deemed served, balance suspended with same terms as first count. A charge of assault, amended from assault to rape, was dismissed upon request of the commonwealth.

Marcelo F. Barbosa, 28, of Oak Bluffs, pleaded guilty to Feb. 8 charges in Oak Bluffs of domestic assault and battery and intimidating a witness, sentenced to two years in a house of correction with one year to serve, balance suspended three years and placed on probation for four years. Ordered to pay a $90 victim/witness assessment fee and a $65 monthly probation services fee for three years, to submit a DNA sample, complete a batterers program and to remain drug and alcohol free with screens as recommended by probation. A charge of attempted murder was dismissed upon request of the commonwealth.

Brianna E. Combra, 23, of West Tisbury, admitted to sufficient facts on Jan. 15 charges in Edgartown of possession with intent to distribute a Class B drug (oxycodone) and conspiracy to violate drug laws, continued without finding for 18 months. Must forfeit $779, pay a $50 victim witness assessment fee and a $65 monthly probation services fee for six months, continue treatment and attend at least one meeting weekly.

Jaime B. Gaspar, 62, of Edgartown, pleaded guilty to a Jan. 31 charge in Edgartown of assault and battery, placed on pretrial probation for 18 months. Ordered to pay a $50 victim/witness assessment fee and $50 monthly probation services fee or to complete community service.

Douglas R. Hathaway, 57, of Edgartown, arraigned on April 20 charges in Oak Bluffs of drunken driving, third offense, marked lanes violation, negligent operation of a motor vehicle and speeding in violation of a special regulation. Bail was set at $1,000 and pretrial hearing scheduled for May 19.

Antonio Saccoccia, 45, of West Tisbury, arraigned on April 21 charges in Edgartown of drunken driving, marked lanes violation, negligent operation of motor vehicle and speeding in violation of a special regulation. According to a police report filed in court, Mr. Saccoccia allegedly crashed his car on the south side of Edgartown-West Tisbury Road. He allegedly told police he swerved and lost control to avoid hitting a deer. Pretrial hearing scheduled for May 22.

Jesse M. Silva, 46, of Vineyard Haven, arraigned on April 19 charges in Oak Bluffs of operating a motor vehicle with license suspended for drunken driving and unregistered motor vehicle. Pretrial hearing scheduled for May 8.

Natasha B. Smith, 31, of Edgartown, arraigned on April 20 charges of domestic assault and battery and reckless endangerment of a child. According to a police report filed in court, Ms. Smith was allegedly in a car with a child and slapped the driver, causing the vehicle to swerve off the roadway. Pretrial hearing scheduled for May 23.

Robert C. Sprague 4th, 25, of Edgartown, arraigned on April 25 charges of drunken driving, second offense, negligent operation of a motor vehicle and marked lanes violation. Pretrial hearing scheduled for May 19.
