A 26-year-old Oak Bluffs man was arrested early Tuesday morning for allegedly stabbing another man.

Oak Bluffs Lieut. Timothy Williamson said Joseph Lacaprucia was arrested and charged with assault to murder, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (a kitchen knife) and assault and battery after an early morning disturbance on Dreamer’s Way in Oak Bluffs.

A reporting party said a man was outside his house yelling for help at about 12:45 a.m. Tuesday morning, according to Lieut. Williamson. The alleged victim, a 37-year-old white male, received a stab wound to his arm and was taken to the hospital and treated, Lieutenant Williamson said, adding that the man was not seriously injured.

Lieutenant Williamson said both parties involved in the incident were heavily intoxicated. Officers from Tisbury and Edgartown provided mutual aid, and Oak Bluffs EMS also responded.

Police obtained an arrest warrant from a judge and entered the house and placed Mr. Lacaprucia under arrest, Lieutenant Williamson said.
