Edgartown selectmen have approved a liquor license transfer for Isola, the new restaurant that will occupy the space that formerly housed Lattanzi’s.

Attorney Howard Miller, representing the applicant, told the town last week that the primary owner and property manager is Nick Sullo, the owner of Rocco’s in Vineyard Haven.

“He’s experienced,” Mr. Miller said. He said there is a lot of renovation going on inside the building and the restaurant hopes to open soon after May 31.

In other selectmen’s business, Edgartown Library Trustees asked the board to accept $112,500 in donations from the Edgartown Library Foundation.

For about a year, the town and the library foundation have been in discussions about whether the foundation would turn over money raised to the town.

Last week, the trustees accepted a $110,000 donation to be used for new library construction and $2,500 in unrestricted donations. They asked the selectmen to approve those donations.

Trustees said they’ve also raised $750 for an “above and beyond” fund for the new library. Artist Margot Datz created a moveable mural at the current library that features book spines with no lettering. For a gift of $100 or more, donors can chose book titles to go on the books.

These funds would go toward extra items for the new Edgartown library.

Those donations are first being referred to town counsel before being accepted by selectmen.

In other good library news, town administrator Pamela Dolby said that there will be an expected $200,000 in proceeds from the sale of the Warren House when the debt for the town’s purchase of the house is retired. The town originally thought the proceeds could only go to debt payments, but Mrs. Dolby said she since found out the money could be rolled over into the library construction project.
