The following cases were heard in Edgartown district court:

March 21

Asa W. French, 28, of Vineyard Haven, was arraigned on March 19 charges in Vineyard Haven of possessing to distribute a class A drug (heroin) and conspiracy to violate drug law. According to a police report filed in court, the Martha’s Vineyard Drug Task Force conducted a search warrant on Mariners Way and officers allegedly observed and confiscated paraphernalia associated with drug distribution, including a brown powdery substance consistent with heroin and about $2,500. A pretrial hearing was scheduled for May 2.

Matthew P. Tucci, 31, of Vineyard Haven, was arraigned on March 19 charges in Vineyard Haven of possessing to distribute a class A drug, (heroin), subsequent offense and conspiracy to violate drug law. According to a police report filed in court, the Martha’s Vineyard Drug Task Force conducted a search warrant on Mariners Way and officers allegedly observed and confiscated paraphernalia associated with drug distribution, including a brown powdery substance consistent with heroin and about $2,500. A pretrial hearing was scheduled for April 25.

March 28

John D. Black, 33, of Edgartown, was arraigned on January 25 charges in West Tisbury of drunken driving, negligent operation of a motor vehicle and marked lanes violation. According to a police report filed in court, he allegedly was driving a car on State Road and collided with a tree. A pretrial hearing was scheduled for May 2.

Matthew M. Bradshaw, 20, of Vineyard Haven, was arraigned on a November 30 charge in Oak Bluffs of assault and battery. According to a police report filed in court, the charge is from an alleged fight with another man. A pretrial hearing was scheduled for May 2.

Patrice A. Carter, 63, of Edgartown, pleaded guilty to November 9 charges in Edgartown of drunken driving and negligent operation of a motor vehicle, placed on probation for one year. Ordered to pay $850 in fees and a $65 monthly probation services fee, to complete a 24 day driver alcohol education program and to lose license for 45 days. Found not responsible on a charge of marked lanes violation. According to a police report filed in court, the charge stems from a one-car motor vehicle accident on Meshacket Road.

Jayne Leaf, 52, of Edgartown, was placed on one year of pretrial probation on February 19, 2013 charges in Edgartown of credit card fraud more than $250 and larceny more than $250 by a single scheme. Ordered to pay $5,634.96 in restitution.
