Two Martha's Vineyard residents wed on Oct. 18, 2013 in New York city. Terrance Grannis, a New York city native, married Sorina Sandor, a native of Sebes, Romania beneath the Bethesda Fountain in Central Park.

A close family friend of the couple from New York and Chappaquidick, Rev. Dr. Thomas F. Pike, officiated. The bride wore a white short summer dress and carried a seasonal bouquet, which included lilies to honor the one held by the famous angel statue presiding over the fountain.

The small ceremony included family near enough to attend and members of the groom’s family, who made a one-day round trip from Virginia for the special occasion. Guests toasted the newlyweds with champagne, followed by refreshments on the outdoor terrace of the nearby Central Park Boat House. The couple lives in Edgartown, where Terrance works in construction and the restaurant business, and Sorina works in retail.

The groom, 28, attended John Jay College and the Borough of Manhattan Community College. He is the son of Alexander B. Pete Grannis, first deputy comptroller of the state of New York, formerly New York state environmental conservation commissioner and a state legislator, who has been coming to Edgartown since he was a toddler. Terrence’s mother, Ainslie Dinwiddie, is an editor and writer, formerly of Newsweek and Business Week, who is from New Orleans. She plans the family stay on the Vineyard every summer.

The bride, 23, is a graduate of the Romanian-American University in Bucharest. She is the daughter of Vasile Sandor, a history teacher at Al. Papiu Ilarian National College in Romania. Her mother, Ana-Angela Pasca, is a nurse in Romania and England. The couple have siblings, nephews, nieces and other relatives in the U.S. and abroad who look forward to family visits on the Vineyard.

Sorina and Terrance will be planning a celebration next year for extended family and their many friends when Sorina’s family can join them.
