Mona Rosenthal has been promoted to sales manager for the Vineyard Gazette Media Group, succeeding BJ Yerdon, publisher Jane Seagrave announced this week.

An account executive with the company for the past year, Ms. Rosenthal came to the Gazette from Martha’s Vineyard Online, where she was senior accounts manager.

Ms. Yerdon retired from the Gazette in December after 12 years.

“BJ will be sorely missed by her friends, which is to say almost everyone she ever came in contact with, but she has earned a lighter schedule,” Ms. Seagrave said. “We’re lucky to have someone with Mona’s talent and personality ready to step into BJ’s role.”

In her new position Ms. Rosenthal will manage members of the sales team who service advertising customers in the Vineyard Gazette, Martha’s Vineyard Magazine, Island Weddings Magazine, Edible Vineyard Magazine, the MV Real Estate Yearbook, the Welcome to Martha’s Vineyard visitor guide and associated websites. She reports to the director of sales and marketing, Skip Finley.

Ms. Rosenthal was a co-owner and director of promotion at Outerland, the former Hot Tin Roof nightclub from 2005 to 2008, where she also created the Island’s popular Family Dance-O-Rama events. She started her career in Boston, working in sales and promotion at WCVB-TV and WBZ-TV. She holds a bachelor’s degree in communications from American University.

She has been enjoying Island life at her home in West Tisbury since 1995.
