The following cases were heard in Edgartown district court.

Dec. 2

Stacy Smith, 28, of West Tisbury, arraigned on Oct. 1 charges in West Tisbury of larceny by check more than $250 and larceny more than $250 by false pretense. Case transferred to Falmouth district court.

Dec. 19

Shane K. True, 32, Vineyard Haven, will have May 20 charges in Edgartown of forgery of a check and uttering false check dismissed if $774.20 in restitution is paid forthwith.

Richard D. Wainwright, 41, of Wellesley Island, N.Y., arraigned on a Dec. 18 charge in Chilmark of failure to register as a sex offender. According to a police report filed in court he has been living in Chilmark since early November without notifying the Chilmark police. Pretrial hearing scheduled for Jan. 10.

Dec. 20

Robert S. James, 41, of Oak Bluffs, had an Oct. 12 charge in Oak Bluffs of assault dismissed upon request of the commonwealth with failure of the victim to cooperate.

Dec. 23

Jayson Claypool, 38, of Vineyard Haven, pleaded guilty to an August 29 charge in Oak Bluffs of negligent operation of a motor vehicle, placed on probation for one year. Ordered to pay $300 in fees and a $50 monthly probation services fee, to complete 32 hours of community service and to remain alcohol free. A charge of drunken driving dismissed upon request of the commonwealth.

Dakota Delviento, 20, of Oak Bluffs, arraigned on a Dec. 22 charge in Oak Bluffs of resisting arrest. Pretrial hearing continued to Feb. 7.

Daniel C. Moseley, 26, of Oak Bluffs, arraigned on Dec. 22 charges in Edgartown of drunken driving, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, and marked lanes violation. Pretrial hearing scheduled for Jan. 27.

Dec. 26

Alexander W. Lawson, 27, of Vineyard Haven, arraigned on Dec. 24 charges in Oak Bluffs of unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, uninsured motor vehicle, a number plate violation to conceal identity, unregistered motor vehicle, no inspection/sticker and failure to wear a seat belt. Pretrial hearing scheduled for Jan. 30.

Michael D. Rodrigues, 37, of Tiverton, R.I., will have a July 10, 2012 charge in Oak Bluffs of vandalizing property dismissed if $465.66 in restitution is paid forthwith. According to a police report, the charge is from vandalizing a van windshield.

Dec. 30

Rachel Aaronson, 26, of Vineyard Haven, arraigned on a Dec. 29 charge in Vineyard Haven of domestic assault and battery. Pretrial hearing scheduled for Jan. 21.

Jamie L. Murphy, 27, of Edgartown, arraigned on Dec. 28 charges in Edgartown of domestic assault and battery and intimidating a witness/juror/police/court official. Pretrial hearing scheduled for Jan. 31.

David J. Sylvia, 42, of Edgartown, arraigned on Dec. 29 charges in Vineyard Haven of uninsured motor vehicle, a number plate violation to conceal identity, unregistered motor vehicle, operating a motor vehicle with license suspended, failure to stop/yield, and a motor vehicle lights violation. Pretrial hearing scheduled for Jan. 21.

Jan. 2

James B. Mullin, 24, of Marlborough, had Dec. 24 charges in Edgartown of malicious destruction of property more than $250 and domestic assault and battery dismissed upon request of the commonwealth with failure of the victim to cooperate.

Trevor T. Scanlon, 39, of Vineyard Haven, arraigned on Dec. 31 charges in Vineyard Haven of assault to murder, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (a hardwood floor) and assault and battery. According to a police report filed in court, he allegedly strangled a woman until she lost consciousness, pushed her head into a hardwood floor and kneeled on her. A later affidavit from the alleged victim said she may have lost consciousness because she was drinking, she may have mistaken him taking off her necklace for choking her, and that she did not want charges pressed and would not cooperate. Bail set at $10,000 surety, pretrial hearing continued to Jan. 27.

Jan. 6

Jamie K. Mastromonaco, 30, of West Tisbury, admitted to sufficient facts on Sept. 26 charges in West Tisbury of malicious destruction of property less than $250, amended from more than $250, and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (a glass bottle). Continued without a finding for one year, ordered to pay $150 in restitution, to pay a $50 victim/witness assessment fee, remain alcohol-free, and to stay away from/not to contact two individuals. A charge of trespassing was dismissed upon request of the commonwealth.

Dana S. Olcott, 49, of Oak Bluffs, pleaded guilty to a July 24 charge in Oak Buffs of attempting to commit a crime, placed on probation for one year. Ordered to pay a $50 victim/witness assessment fee and a $65 monthly probation services fee. According to a police report the charges stemmed from trying to take a purse at a barber shop.
