Foul play is not suspected in the death of an Edgartown man found in his home Friday, Dec.27, police said.

Scott A. Francis, 48, was found unconscious in the bathroom of a 13th street home he shared with roommates, a press release by Edgartown Det. Sgt. Christopher Dolby said. He was later pronounced dead at the scene and his body was transported to the state medical examiner’s office for an autopsy, Detective Sergeant Dolby said. No obvious cause of death was observed, he said.

During the investigation, Detective Sergeant Dolby said police learned that one of Mr. Francis’ roommates, Gabriel Grasing, allegedly left the house upon discovering the body and before police arrived. Mr. Grasing allegedly hid a backpack at a house in Oak Bluffs, police said. The backpack was seized by police and allegedly contained about 200 prescription pills, with more than 13 different kinds of prescription medications stored in pill bottles, containers and in plastic bags.

Mr. Grasing, 38, was charged with possession of a class B substance (Oxycodone), possession of a class C substance (Clonazepam), possession of a class E substance (amphetamine), possession of a class E substance (Alprazolam), and obstruction of justice.

Mr. Grasing was arraigned Monday in Edgartown District Court, and released on $1,000 bail.

Detective Sergeant Dolby said the investigation is continuing and there may be further charges in connection with the drug investigation.
