Could wedding bells be in the future for The Bachelor star Juan Pablo Galavis and former Vineyarder Renee Oteri?

Beginning Jan. 5, Ms. Oteri will compete against 26 other women to win the heart of Mr. Galavis, a former professional soccer player and the leading man of this season’s The Bachelor on ABC. Now in its 18th season, The Bachelor is a reality television show that revolves around a single guy looking for Mrs. Right.

According to her website, Ms. Oteri, 32, vacationed on the Island with her family as a child, and at the end of one summer never left. Ms. Oteri worked at the Tisbury police department as an administrative assistant while starting her photography career. She is originally from Sarasota, Fla., where she now resides and is a real estate agent and photographer.

An ABC spokesperson said contestants, friends and family are not allowed to give interviews while still in competition.

According to her profile on The Bachelor website, Ms. Oteri has one dog, enjoys country music and her favorite movies include Top Gun, The Notebook and The Vow. She says her three best attributes are being loyal, reliable and loving, and if she could be someone else for one day she would be a fighter pilot.

Successful engagements and marriages have been elusive on The Bachelor and The Bachelorette. In the 18 seasons of The Bachelor and nine seasons of The Bachelorette, there has only been one successful marriage.

The Bachelor premiers on Jan. 5 at 8 p.m. on ABC.
