Let it snow, let it rain, let it snow. It has been a mixture of everything, but we have been on the rain end of the storms so the Christmas shopping continues.

Christmas in Edgartown has come and gone and it seems like it was a success even with the cold weather. The mini Evening of Enchantment at Donaroma’s Nursery seems to have pleased a lot of people both young and old. The lights were spectacular. The pageant of town trees ending with the Vineyard tree at the end of the pergola is always a favorite. This year there was the labyrinth with the incense and a chance to pray to give yourself inner peace. Then, Into the Light in the floral area where there were trees of many colors, a beautiful Geisha girl at the gong and, of course, the wishing tree. People were smiling, the kids were happy and new this year was Jeff Donaroma’s light show with the lights in sync with the music on the radio. You can still enjoy this in the evenings from 5 to 9 p.m. Drive down to the area with red ribbon around it. You will see the sign with the radio station to tune into and sit back and relax and enjoy the music and the show.
The rest of the weekend seemed to go fine. There were a lot of people around and town seemed to be full. The wreath-making and boxwood tree decorating was very busy and people left very proud of their works of art.
I hope you all get a chance to get out and see the lights. There are a lot of homes decorated and of course the towns look great.
The next to last Winter Farmers’ Market will be held this Saturday, Dec. 21 at the Agricultural Hall from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. It should be a lot of fun and time to get those holiday presents from your favorite vendors. Hot lunch provided by Little Rock Farm, live music by Kevin Keady (all the way from Chappaquiddick) and time to sit by the roaring fire and chat with friends.
Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
