Renaldo B. Barbosa, 33, of Oak Bluffs, was arraigned on Oct. 6 charges in Oak Bluffs of breaking and entering for a misdemeanor. According to a police report filed in court, he was allegedly staying in an unfinished house that was under construction. A pretrial hearing was scheduled for Dec. 5.

Ashley Figueroa, 38, of Vineyard Haven, pleaded guilty to July 13 charges in Vineyard Haven of drunken driving, second offense, placed on probation for two years. Ordered to a 14-day inpatient program and aftercare, to remain alcohol-free with screens and to pay $100 in fees and a $65 monthly probation services fee. Also pleaded guilty to a charge of negligent operation of a motor vehicle, ordered to pay a $250 head injury assessment and placed on one year of probation concurrent with the previous charge. A charge of operating under the influence of drugs (Gabapentin) was dismissed upon request of the commonwealth.

Kevin M. Gibb, 22, of Northborough, admitted to sufficient facts on an August 23 charge in Edgartown of drunken driving, continued without a finding for one year. Ordered to pay $600 in fees and a $65 monthly probation services fee, to complete a 24-day driver alcohol education program and to lose license for 45 days. Found not responsible on a marked lanes violation and a charge of negligent operation of a motor vehicle was dismissed upon request of the commonwealth.

Maryann T. Haller, 61, of Vineyard Haven, was arraigned on a Nov. 11 charge in Vineyard Haven of domestic assault and battery. A pretrial hearing was scheduled for Dec. 2.

Elza S. Paula, 46, of Edgartown, was placed on one year of pretrial probation on a September 13 charge in Edgartown of breaking and entering a building in the nighttime for a felony and assault. Ordered not to abuse and to stay away from the alleged victim and his/her residence.

Jesse J. Smith, 29, of Vineyard Haven, was arraigned on Nov. 5 charges in Vineyard Haven of assault to murder, domestic assault and battery, intimidating a witness, malicious destruction of property more than $250 (a television) and malicious destruction of property more than $250 (a fish tank). He was ordered held without bail pending a Nov. 12 dangerousness hearing. A pretrial hearing was continued to Nov. 19.

David M. Sprague Jr., 36, of West Tisbury, was arraigned on Nov. 10 charges in Vineyard Haven of drunken driving, negligent operation of a motor vehicle and marked lanes violation. A pretrial hearing was scheduled for Nov. 25.

Joseph Strople, 22, of Palm Coast, Fla., admitted to sufficient facts on a Sept. 3 charge in Vineyard Haven of drunken driving, continued without a finding for one year. Ordered to pay $350 in fees and a $65 monthly probation services fee, to complete a 24-day driver alcohol education program and to lose license for 45 days. A charge of negligent operation of a motor vehicle was dismissed upon request of the commonwealth and he was found not responsible on a speeding charge.

Abraham V. Torres, 47, of Edgartown, admitted to sufficient facts and was found guilty of a March 2 charge in Edgartown of drunken driving, second offense. Sentenced to 90 days in a house of correction, suspended two years and placed on probation for two years. Ordered to a 14-day inpatient program and aftercare and to seek counseling while in Florida for the winter as mandated by probation. Also ordered to pay $100 in fees and a $65 monthly probation services fee. A charge of negligent operation of a motor vehicle was dismissed upon request of the commonwealth and he was found not responsible for a marked lanes violation.

Nov. 8

John D. Cecilio, 56, of Edgartown, pleaded guilty to an August 10 charge in Oak Buffs of assault and battery, amended from assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. Ordered to 60 days in a house of correction, suspended one year and placed on probation for one year. Ordered to pay a $50 victim/witness assessment fee, not to contact the victim and to send a letter of apology by Nov. 18. According to a police report filed in court, the charge stems from allegedly driving his car into a parking attendant at the parking lot by Back Door Donuts. Sharon H. Fisher, 47, of Vineyard Haven, was arraigned on August 20 charges in Vineyard Haven of leaving the scene of property damage and negligent operation of a motor vehicle. A pretrial hearing was scheduled for Dec. 6.

Micael M. Jose, 36, of Edgartown, admitted to sufficient facts on a June 14 charge in Oak Bluffs of negligent operation of a motor vehicle, continued without a finding for one year. Ordered to pay $300 in fees and a $50 monthly probation services fee. A charge of leaving the scene of property damage was dismissed upon request of the commonwealth.

Jason Lewis, 32, of Brockton, pleaded guilty to a Feb. 13 charge in Edgartown of possessing to distribute a class A drug (heroin), placed on probation for two years. Ordered to pay a $90 victim/witness assessment fee and a $65 monthly probation services fee, to remain illicit drug-free with screens and to forfeit $1,262. A charge of conspiracy to violate drug law was dismissed upon request of the commonwealth. According to a police report filed in court, the charges came after police executed a search warrant at a Vineyard Haven hotel as part of an investigation into heroin distribution. They allegedly located Mr. Lewis and another man with 10 plastic bags of a substance consistent with heroin.

Michael J. Staveley-O’Carroll, 21, of West Tisbury, was arraigned on Sept. 15 charges in West Tisbury of drunken driving, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, marked lanes violation and speeding. A pretrial hearing was scheduled for Dec. 19.

Joshua L. Schoen, 24, of Edgartown, admitted to sufficient facts on an August 17 charge in Oak Buffs of breaking and entering a boat in the nighttime for a felony and larceny from a boat, continued without a finding for eighteen months. According to a police report filed in court, he allegedly boarded a yacht docked at the Oak Bluffs harbor and stole a pair of sunglasses. Ordered to pay $300 in restitution, a $90 victim/witness assessment fee and a $50 monthly probation services fee, not to contact the boat and the boat captain.

Nov. 12

Kathleen Berard, 56, of West Hartford, Conn., had Oct. 29, 2012 charges in Oak Bluffs of larceny by check more than $250, forgery of a check and uttering false check dismissed upon request of the commonwealth.

Emery E. Johnson, 42, of Oak Bluffs, will have Oct. 29, 2012 charges in Oak Bluffs of larceny by check more than $250, forgery of a check, and uttering false check dismissed upon request of the commonwealth.

Jamie K. Mastromonaco, 30, of West Tisbury, was arraigned on Sept. 26 charges in West Tisbury of malicious destruction of property more than $250 (vehicle tire), assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (a glass bottle) and trespassing. A pretrial hearing was scheduled for Dec. 2.

Stanley Siede, 69, of Oak Bluffs, admitted to sufficient facts on a July 17 charge in Edgartown of possessing a class B drug (cocaine), continued without a finding for two years. Ordered to pay a $50 victim/witness assessment fee and a $65 monthly probation services fee. Also ordered to remain illicit drug-free with screens when on-Island and to inform probation when not on-Island. According to a police report filed in court, he was charged with allegedly having cocaine mailed to him.

Emily R. Walkenstein, 22, of Blue Bell, Pa., admitted to sufficient facts on an Oct. 19 charge of drunken driving, placed on probation for one year. Ordered to pay $350 in fees, to complete a 24-day driver alcohol education program and to lose license for 45 days. Found not responsible on charges of a marked lanes violation and failure to stop/yield.
