The following cases were heard in Edgartown district court.

Sept. 9

William Benedetto, 42, of Beverly, found not guilty in a bench trial on an August 2012 charge of breaking and entering for a misdemeanor, amended from breaking and entering a boat in the nighttime for felony.

Sept. 11

David S. Gamsby, 41, of Medford, pleaded guilty to a March 21 charge in Oak Bluffs of drunken driving, second offense, placed on probation for two years. Ordered to pay $250 head injury assessment fee and a $50 victim witness assessment fee, and a $65 monthly probation services fee, $50 after the first year. Ordered to a 24-day alcohol education program, and to lose license for 60 days, to remain alcohol-free with screens. Found responsible on charges of failure to wear a seatbelt and unregistered motor vehicle, ordered to pay $125 in fines. Found not responsible on a marked lanes violation and a charge of negligent operation of a motor vehicle was dismissed upon request of the commonwealth.

Kenn Karakul, 60, of Palm Beach, Fla., found guilty in a bench trial on a July 2012 charge of negligent operation of a motor vehicle, placed on probation for 18 months. Ordered to pay $250 head injury assessment fee, a $50 victim/witness assessment fee and a $50 monthly probation services fee and to complete 24 hours of community service. For the first six months of probation, required to attend two AA meetings per week. Found not guilty on a charge of drunken driving, second offense. Found responsible on a state highway signal/sign/markings violation, filed for six months.

Sept. 12

Shannon R. Hurley, 27, of Colorado Springs, Colo., pleaded guilty to a June 1 charge in Oak Bluffs of negligent operation of a motor vehicle, placed on probation for one year. Ordered to pay $250 head injury assessment fee, $50 victim/witness assessment fee and a $50 monthly probation services fee, to complete 32 hours of community service, remain alcohol-free and to lose license for 60 days. A charge of drunken driving was dismissed upon request of the commonwealth, found not responsible on a marked lanes violation.

Srdan Milunovic, 22, of Edgartown, arraigned on August 30 charges in Edgartown of credit card fraud more than $250, larceny more than $250 and forgery of a document. According to a police report filed in court, he allegedly used a lost or stolen credit card to purchase $1,566.50 in items from the Jack Wills store. Bail was set at $1,000 and he was ordered to surrender his passport. Pretrial hearing scheduled for Sept. 26.

Srdan Milunovic, 22, of Edgartown, arraigned on August 30 charges in Edgartown of credit card fraud more than $250 and larceny more than $250. According to a police report filed in court, he allegedly used a lost or stolen credit card to purchase $457.80 worth of items from J. McLaughlin. Pretrial hearing scheduled for Sept. 26.

Michael C. Thomas, 51, of West Tisbury, arraigned on a Sept. 12 charge in Vineyard Haven of domestic assault and battery. Pretrial hearing scheduled for Oct. 11.

Sept. 13

Wayne H. Audette, 46, of Fairhaven, placed on six months of pretrial probation on an August 9 charge in Vineyard Haven of trespassing, ordered to pay $100 in costs and not to trespass at the Owen Park dock.

Richard A. Campbell, 37, of Vineyard Haven, was arraigned on Sept. 12 charges in Vineyard Haven of assault and battery and disorderly conduct. Bail was set at $750 and a pretrial hearing scheduled for Sept. 23.

Christopher S. Francis, 39, of Vineyard Haven, pleaded guilty to an August 28 charge of violating an abuse prevention order in Oak Bluffs, sentenced to two and a half years in a house of corrections with one year to serve, balance suspended four years and 17 days of jail credit given. Placed on probation for four years, ordered not to contact the victim and to stay 25 yards away, to complete a batterers program, to remain alcohol-free with screens, and to complete a mental health evaluation and treatment as mandated by probation.

Sept. 16

Robert D. Brown, 23, of Chilmark, arraigned on Sept. 14 charges in Oak Bluffs of drunken driving, negligent operation of a motor vehicle and marked lanes violation. A pretrial hearing was scheduled for Oct. 18.

Joseph F. Coveney, 33, of Oak Bluffs, pleaded guilty to a July 16 charge in Oak Bluffs of possessing a class B drug (Oxycodone), placed on probation for one year. Ordered to pay a $50 victim/witness assessment fee and a $65 monthly probation services fee, to be on level III probation and to remain alcohol and illicit drug-free with screens.

Alice G. Seaton, 66, of Vineyard Haven, had a July 7 charge of domestic assault and battery in Vineyard Haven dismissed upon request of the commonwealth without prejudice, no victim impact statement.

Stanley Siede, 69, of Oak Bluffs, arraigned on a July 17 charge in Edgartown of possessing a class B drug (cocaine). According to a police report filed in court, the Martha’s Vineyard Drug Task Force became aware of a U.S. Postal Service investigation into suspected controlled substances being mailed to a post office box in Vineyard Haven. The postal inspector came to the Island to perform a controlled delivery with a piece of mail that a K-9 had indicated had narcotics, the report said. Mr. Siede allegedly took possession of the package and was then approached by police, the report said, and the package allegedly contained a calendar with a small bag containing a powder consistent with cocaine. Pretrial hearing scheduled for Oct. 18.

Bernard M. Wojnowski, 36, of Vineyard Haven, arraigned on a June 20 charge in Vineyard Haven of two counts of assault and battery on a police officer. According to a police report filed in court, he allegedly hit and headbutted two police officers who came to his house for a welfare check. Pretrial hearing scheduled for Oct. 18.
