The following cases were heard in Edgartown district court:
Joseph W. Lefebvre, 45, of Vineyard Haven, arraigned on June 21 charges in Oak Bluffs of negligent operation of a motor vehicle, marked lanes violation and possessing an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle. According to a police report filed in court, Mr. Lefebvre said that he was headed north on East Chop Drive in his Chevy Corvette when he saw a large number of people standing in the roadway causing an obstruction. The report said “he believed the people were part of the TV show The Vineyard.” He allegedly said that he attempted to maneuver around the group and lost control of the vehicle. There was allegedly damage to his car and landscape damage and debris at an East Chop home. Pretrial hearing scheduled for August 30.
Morgan L. Beams, 21, of Weston, admitted to sufficient facts on a July 19, 2012 charge in Edgartown of drunken driving, continued without a finding for one year. Ordered to pay $600 in fees and a $65 monthly probation services fee, to complete a 24-day driver alcohol education fee and to lose license for 210 days. A charge of negligent operation of a motor vehicle was dismissed upon request of the commonwealth, and found not responsible on charges of marked lanes violation and license not in possession. Scott S. Murphy, 56, of Pembroke, pleaded guilty to a June 9 charge in West Tisbury of larceny under $250 (amended from larceny over $250), ordered to pay a $250 fine or assessment and a $50 victim/witness assessment fee. He was charged with taking art prints from Warren Gaines at the Vineyard Artisans Festival in West Tisbury.
Ronald E. Pine, 46, of Vineyard Haven, admitted to sufficient facts on a Jan. 30 charge in Vineyard Haven of assault and battery, continued without a finding for six months. Ordered to pay a $50 victim/witness assessment fee and not to contact the alleged victim.
Ronald E. Pine, 46, of Vineyard Haven, will have a June 2011 charge of an employer failing to pay timely wages dismissed if $1,800 in restitution is paid by Sept. 4.
Ashley Figueroa, 38, of Vineyard Haven, was arraigned on July 13 charges in Vineyard Haven of drunken driving, second offense, operating under the influence of drugs (Gabapentin) and negligent operation of a motor vehicle. A pretrial hearing was scheduled for Sept. 16.
Jared E. Fisher, 30, of Edgartown, will not be prosecuted on a June 8 charge in Edgartown of domestic assault and battery.
