Editors, Vineyard Gazette:

Sometimes we all need little reminders on what beach etiquette, at least here on the Vineyard, is all about.

When looking for a spot to sit on the beach, it is not proper to plop yourself in front of someone already there and the water (except on South Beach).

Depending on how close you are to someone else on the beach, be considerate when playing music. Some people just like the sound of the surf.

When parking at the beach, parking right in front of a beach path without room to move around your car is frowned upon.

If you see a beach towel and other beach items lying on the beach, do not choose that spot to sit.

Of course “carry in, carry out” — take all your trash and belongings with you.

We all love our dogs, but they are only allowed on the beach after 5 p.m.

We are so lucky to have such beautiful beaches and a beautiful place to relax, let’s think of others so we can all enjoy.
