A new event for the Vineyard this summer is the On The Vine Festival, which will bring musical artists Smokey Robinson and Natalie Cole, among other notable performers, to the Island. What brings all this talent to one event? The On The Vine Festival benefits kidney disease research and the American Friends of Rambam, the health care campus located in Haifa, Israel where breakthrough kidney research is taking place.

The four days of entertainment open with Mr. Robinson’s performance at the Tabernacle in Oak Bluffs on August 22. He’ll be joined by Angie Stone and Tony Roberts with seating starting at 5:30 p.m.

On August 23 at the Featherstone Arts Center in Oak Bluffs, Kahil El’Zabar will entertain and the evening features Anna Fong, designer for Kanye West Couture, sculptor Lucy Slivinski, painter HVW8 and videographer Chris Andrews. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.

On August 24, Natalie Cole takes the stage at the tabernacle and will be joined by Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds, Miri Ben-Ari and comedian Richard Lewis with doors opening at 5:30 p.m.

The weekend winds down on August 25 with a jazz brunch at Featherstone featuring James Carter, Roy Hargrove and Kahil El’Bazar.
