Whether your interests lie in lighthouses or in the luminescent quality of a watercolor, Martha’s Vineyard Museum has something to offer this summer. The museum is open year-round and begins the summer season with an opening party on Friday, June 14 from 7 to 9 p.m. at 59 School street in Edgartown.

The reception on the lawn also means the opening of the new exhibit, Ladies of the Sea: Tull, Treat and Jernegan. These three artists all drew their inspiration from the ocean. Besides the summer opening of the museum, the day also marks the opening of the 18th century Cooke family home.

On June 18 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Bob Frisman will give a lecture entitled The Clock in the Painting. Mr. Frisman owns Bell-Time Clocks and has collected fine art images containing clocks for many years. He’ll present images from more than five centuries.

On June 21 from 5 to 9 p.m. there is a community open (light)house and summer solstice event at Gay Head Lighthouse in Aquinnah. This event will celebrate the summer while highlighting the beginning phase of the Keep on Shining campaign to relocate and restore the Gay Head Lighthouse.
