The Art Buchwald Possible Dreams Auction, the summer event that benefits Martha’s Vineyard Community Services, will celebrate its 35th birthday this summer with a new name, a new site, on a new day and date, and with a new auctioneer. For many years, the late humorist and Washington Post columnist Art Buchwald emceed and anchored the annual event. This year the auction has been renamed in his honor. Mr. Buchwald died in 2007.

The auction has relocated to the Winnetu Resort at Katama in Edgartown, and is in late July rather than the first Monday in August. The auction is set for Sunday, July 28.

The event promises to bring a smile with social and political humorist Jimmy Tingle as auctioneer. Mr. Tingle was born in and grew up in Cambridge. He graduated from Southeastern Massachusetts University in 1977 and he more recently earned a master’s degree from Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government. He is a writer, actor, producer and a sometimes stand-up comic. Mr. Tingle worked as a writer and humorist for two seasons at 60 Minutes II in the Andy Rooney spot and was a regular contributor and commentator at MSNBC.
