Mother’s Day weekend and the beginning of spring are coming together for one extravaganza taking place all over Edgartown. The Pink & Green Weekend Celebration runs from May 10 to 12 and is celebrated with shopping, noshing and even dancing at numerous locations. Sponsored by the Edgartown Board of Trade, the colorful weekend gets the season going for local businesses while offering special deals and events for visitors and year-rounders. It all starts this Friday and ends sometime after the Mother’s Day brunches and the last second-look at the boutiques on Sunday.

The weekend is not just about decking mom out in the latest summer styles, though. There are events for children throughout the weekend including pink and green soap scrimshaw at the Martha’s Vineyard Museum, Mother’s Day craft-making at the Edgartown Library and maybe a cupcake or two at Chesca’s. And in case you’re wondering what to do with Fido while the family is enjoying the springapalooza, bring him along. A pink and green dog show will be at the Mini Park on Saturday from noon to 2 p.m. Who knows, he may bring home a pink ribbon.

Local restaurants, delis and cafes are going to be competing for the best pink and green drink concoction they can conjure up, and the winner is chosen by restaurant-goers. You can drop your vote off at the Christina Gallery, at the Pink & Green Ball or at the Harbor View’s Sunday brunch. The Pink & Green Ball takes place at the Field Club, with entertainment by the Sultans of Swing and hors d’eouvres by Kitchen Porch. The ball begins at 7 p.m. For a full list of events, visit edgartownboardoftrade.com.
